Narrative Writing
• Creates a story that may be a single event or several events loosely linked, which the author may react to, comment on, evaluate, sum up or tie together
•    Tells events in chronological order
•    Includes drawings to support meaning
•    Incorporates storybook language

Report/informational writing
•    Gathers, collects and shares information about a topic
•    Maintains a focus- stays on topic
•    Excludes extraneous information when prompted

Procedure/functional writing
• Tells someone what to do
•    Names or labels objects and places

Response to Literature
•    Re-enacts and retells stories
•    Creates stories, poems, plays, and songs


Mathematics

*    Uses many ways to solve and explain thinking about problems
*    Counts, reads, writes, compares, and renames numbers
