| Welcome to fifth grade at Highwood Hills! My name is Jeff Croonquist and this is my second year teaching fifth grade at Highwood Hills. I am excited to teach fifth grade, the best grade in all of elementary school! This year in our class we have an extremely enjoyable class of 22 learners. In the mornings, I team teach with Ms. Chris Baumhover, an ELL teacher. Everyday we start with a morning skills work block, where we concentrate on grammer, logic problems, and extra homework help. We then go to specialist. In fifth grade we rotate between science, social skills/computer skills and physical education.
Here is our schedule for room 1603:
8:50-9:35 morning work and skills block
9:35-10:25 specialist
10:30-10:40 morning meeting
10:40-11:15 writing
11:15-12:15 reading
12:20-12:50 lunch and recess
12:50-1:30 read aloud, then daily oral language or continuation of readers workshop
1:30-2:00 social studies
2:00 3:25 math
3:25-3:35 homework assignments/classroom jobs
3:35 dismissal
This year we have been collaborating with another fifth grade classroom from Stillwater. This has been an enjoyable experience as we have already had one field trip with this class, and have three other trips planned.
The best time to reach me is before school fom 8:00 to 8:45 and at prep time from 9:40 to 10:20. I look forward to working in partnership with you and your child.
