Aro and Company Web Page

Hi Families,

Welcome to our 6th grade web page. This site will serve as another home-school connection where I will post our classroom happenings regularly.
Our daily schedule includes:

  • Specialists (Science, Physical Education, Computer Technology)
  • Morning Meeting
  • Writer's Workshop
  • Reader's Workshop
  • Recess/Lunch
  • Math
  • Civics
  • The Arts

Please ask your child about the following:

Social Studies: What do you know and what do you want to know about the U.S. Constitution? How is your classroom constitution similar to the U.S. Constitution?

Rich Words: apprehension, dilemma, formative, hunch, ingenuity, mischief, resigned, transpire

Math: Find graphs or tables in newspapers or magazines and discuss: What's the purpose of the graph or table? What predictions can you make or conclusions can you draw based on the data? Play Landmark Shark.

Reader's Workshop:  Have a chat about our interactive read aloud: Danny, The Champion of the World. Discuss: what good readers do,  the relationship between the amount of time spent reading and reading achievement, his or her reading response letter and most importantly what they're presently reading. Is it the plot or the characters who lead us to the author's message?

Writer's Workshop:  Leading the "Writerly Life"  - What seed idea are writing about? What's sensory language? How important is the setting in your narrative?

You may contact me via email [wendy.aro@spps.org] or by telephone (651)293-8875 any time before or after school.
