 | | Click for more information about Saint Paul Reads | It is the expectation and standard that all students at Highwood Hills will read 25 books independently during the school year. Books read should be at the students' independent reading level. Books should be diverse in nature and cover many genre. Students can read fiction, non-fiction, poetry, news articles, biographies, memoirs, science fiction, narratives, etc.
Students are held accountable to this standard by reporting to classroom teachers about the books they are reading. Teachers chart or graph the books read by their students. Check your child's teacher's website for more information.
This program has increased the numbers of books read by our student population. This benefits each individual student by increasing fluency, vocabulary, knowledge base, and enjoyment. Remember what Dr. Suess taught us..."the more you know...the more places you will go."
