Our school day looks like this:

10:45 - 11:00        Restroom Break

11:00 - 12:30        Reader's Workshop

11:50 - 12:20        Computers (Tuesday only)

12:40 - 1:20          Lunch & Recess

  1:20 - 1:30          Restroom Break

  1:30 - 2:35          Writing/Word Work

  2:40 - 3:30          Specialists (Phy Ed, Science, Social Skills

  3:30 - 3:40          Homework & Dismissal

Please ask you child each day about school.  Encourage them to talk to you about what they are learning.  Homework is given each day and expected to be completed before school starts the next day.  Homework is usually a direct reflection of the lessons learned in school that day. 

We are a 2nd grade classroom of 22 students.  Our class is very diverse with students of many different cultures and speaking many different languages.  Our common language is English.  We are also designated as a Language Academy to provide additional support to new English Language Learners.  To do this I collaborate with a teacher who specializes in ELL, Mrs. Anna Parvi, for two hours a day.  This is also a looped classroom where I begin with a group of students for 2nd grade and continue with the same group through third grade.  The experience is beneficial to both the students and the teacher.  I really enjoy the relationships built with families in the 2 years I have their students.
